Axel Hutte is a German photographer known for his large-scale color photographs of landscapes and cityscapes. He was born in Essen, Germany in 1951 and studied under Bernd Becher at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf from 1973 to 1981. Alongside his contemporaries Andreas Gursky and Thomas Struth, Hutte was part of the influential Düsseldorf School of Photography in the 1980s.
Hutte's work often depicts expansive scenes with a focus on color, form, and composition. Many of his photographs feature human-made structures and urban environments, while others showcase more natural landscapes such as mountain ranges and deserts. His work has been exhibited extensively in galleries and museums around the world, and is held in numerous public and private collections. Hutte currently lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany.
